I think it was okay overall. At least there wasn’t any dish that tasted bad to me. I liked the swing pork belly. It didn’t have a strong meaty smell, and the sauce went well with it. The presentation was interesting. The pork kidney was just average, and the pickled fish didn’t really taste sour. Overall, nothing left a strong impression, but there was nothing wrong either.

Came here for my birthday with a coworker, and we had a fantastic time. We loved every single dish—the flavors were bold, rich, and satisfying. The standout for us was the fish, which was incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked. You could really taste the quality. That said, we did find the food a bit on the oily side, which is pretty common for Szechuan cuisine but still worth noting. Even so, it didn’t take away from how much we enjoyed the meal. We love the pear chrysanthemum tea—absolutely lovely! Light, fragrant, and the perfect balance to the spicier dishes. Would definitely come back, especially for a group meal where you can share everything family-style!

A Hidden Gem for Sichuan Food Lovers- I give a soiled 4 for this reason If you’re craving real Sichuan flavors, Mountain House in Flushing is a fixer. The food is packed with bold, spicy flavors that taste just like what you would find in Chengdu — not watered down for American tastes. From the numbing kick of the peppercorns to the deep, savory spices, every dish feels authentic and carefully made. The atmosphere is cozy & homey, with a rustic vibe that makes you feel like you have stepped into a mountain village. It’s the kind of place that doe not try too hard to impress — it just delivers seriously good food with a rich culture flavor I recommend the dry pot dishes and dishes with their house chili oil. Whether you are dining with friends or showing someone what real Sichuan cuisine with a cultural connection is all about, this place will not disappoint if you have the sweet tooth

If you love real Sichuan, Mountain House delivers fast service and unforgettable Ma La heat. Mountain House in Flushing is a great spot for authentic Sichuan food in a rustic, casual atmosphere. It was a little busy for lunch on a holiday, but we still did not wait long for a table. Service was fast and good. The food was excellent, especially the mapo tofu and pretty much anything Ma La. Bold flavors if you are into Sichuan, especially that Ma La Sichuan peppercorn flavor I crave. Very satisfying overall and definitely worth a visit if you are craving real Sichuan cuisine.

Szechuan Mountain House is always a favourite of mine (both in Manhattan and in Flushing). The Flushing one is usually less busy -- usually a bit of a wait if you come during peak times, but I've never had to wait for lunch or early dinner. I am a big fan of the intricate "traditional" decor; the environment is clean, spacious, and very comfortable. To start, I was a big fan of the starter plate of Chinese-style pickled cabbage. It had a really good spicy/sour flavour without being too strong -- we always devour this (and I think you can ask for more, too!). I do like that their dishes are quite authentically spicy. I really liked the peppercorn beef 花椒牛肉 that we ordered. Portion size was really big, full of so many slices of beef, noodle knots, and a LOT of peppercorns. While it was really spicy, fortunately it wasn't unbearably so (and you could definitely feel the numb 麻 more than the spicy 辣 per se). The broth was really aromatic and paired nicely on top of white rice. Their famous swinging pork 晾衣白肉 is also really good -- the popular acclaim is definitely deserved haha. The pork is simple and well-cooked and the thinly -sliced cucumbers were fresh and contrasted well with the more savoury pork. The spicy garlic oil was a particular highlight -- really fragrant and added a nice kick to the pork. I always get the stir-fried cabbage 乾鍋手撕包菜 -- it's a common vegetable at Chinese restaurants and hard to mess up, but here it was a particular standout! The cabbage was cooked perfectly -- tender without being too soggy -- and while a bit oily, it wasn't too heavy at all. It was a great contrast to the other, much spicier dishes that we ordered. I've also had the mapo tofu 麻婆豆腐 before, which was yummy and had a great flavour, but didn't feel as though it was too noteworthy; and the kung pao chicken 宮保雞丁, which was ... meh? The flavour felt very muted with a sauce that felt a little off (not quite sweet or savoury, just kind of bland). Portion sizes are decently large, and the price point is reasonable (maybe around 30-40pp). Always keen to come back whenever I'm in the area -- they have so many delicious dishes that I'd love to try :)

I am not a really big fan of Chinese food since I have ate it a lot of times, but this place changed my perspective. The food was so good that even I was shocked about the tasting. They even have a Michelin star and their service was wonderful! The atmosphere is really nice where if you want to eat with your friends and chill, this would be the perfect place to go and visit! I have attached some photos down below on some of the foods on the menu that were really delicious. I would come to this place again next time, really recommended. :)

Same owner as CHELI! You can tell from the similar elegant decor—perfect for a friend gathering. The plating was beautiful, the food flavorful, but a little salty for our taste. Be warned—the spice level is real! Still, everything was tasty and very rice-friendly. Service was top-notch.

My friend brought me here for my birthday lunch, and I couldn't agree any more with her choice! The food is authentically really good. Each dish we had was packed with so much flavors. Portions are generous. I'm definitely coming back!
